Click here to request an application. You will receive an email with a link to the online application, which has three parts: a written portion, two letters of reference, and an interview. Once we receive your application and references, we will let you know within two weeks if you have been selected to move on to the interview stage of the application process.
Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis, but February 1 is our priority deadline. Generally, admissions decisions will be communicated within a month of your interview, if you are selected to move to that portion of the process.
Most weekdays students arrive at the yeshiva for morning sit and prayers at 7:45am and stay through the evening. Click here for a more detailed overview.
Romemu Yeshiva’s core program of full-time students is open to anyone, regardless of affiliation, denomination, or observance level. The core group of the yeshiva will be made up of individuals, ages 20-39, looking to transform their spirituality. The yeshiva will also be open to a handful of seekers of all ages who are looking to study text and deepen their practice.
The Romemu Yeshiva hopes to engage students of every background and level. However, for our inaugural summer program, applicants will need to have a minimal foundation of Hebrew text study – one year of college level Hebrew or the equivalent. We anticipate welcoming beginner level students in future years of the yeshiva.
Romemu Yeshiva accepts students from all backgrounds (including Jews and non-Jews) and patterns of observance. We respect each student’s religious journey and modes of religious expression and have no expectations about what your practice may look like before or after your participation in the yeshiva. While enrolled, all students are expected to take part in a variety of styles of daily prayer, meditation practice, and an array of other practices aligned with our program goals.
Romemu Yeshiva welcomes all participants, including dedicated lay-people, present/ future Jewish professionals, future Rabbis, or Jewish educational professionals.
Applicants can be a member of Romemu, a member of another synagogue, or not currently a member of any synagogue.

We offer tuition on a sliding scale for the six week program. This covers all courses, breakfast and lunch, our opening weeklong retreat in Upstate New York, and our group Shabbaton in Manhattan. Tuition subsidies, housing stipends, and additional grants are available for those who qualify.
Romemu Yeshiva is not an accredited educational institution, and as such we do not offer degrees. As a result, most students will have to begin repaying student loans while studying with us. One exception is students pursuing Jewish studies at a graduate level, for whom their studies are a supplement to their graduate education.
Our students are responsible for their own housing for the duration of the program. Our staff and volunteers will do their best to aid students in finding housing and will connect them to any available housing opportunities on their radar.
The yeshiva provides vegetarian breakfast and lunch most days of the week, while dinners are up to students. We have some capacity to accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies, and will do our best to do so.
Other than the two Shabbatot that we will spend together, there is no official yeshiva programming for shabbat. However, we expect our students to form and be part of robust Shabbat communities during their studies. Yeshiva students are of course more than welcome to join the Romemu congregation for Shabbat services and events (in Manhattan or Brooklyn) and there are many other dynamic synagogue opportunities in NYC.
It depends. While some of our programs and events are open to the public, many of classes are for full-time students only. Before inviting someone to a class, please obtain the teacher’s permission. For a list of upcoming public programs, click here.
We expect most of our classes and events to take place at or near 165 W. 105th St., NYC.
