Seekers families gather approximately twice each month for community building, learning, and a celebratory meal. The B Mitzvah cohort (6th and 7th graders) also joins Romemu clergy members for a special lunch and learn program. Our first Shabbaton will be on September 16, when we will kick off the year, meet other families, and learn about the program the coming year.
Seekers families will have opportunities to engage in community-building and Jewish learning activities, including discussion groups, Shabbat meals, and events both in and out of New York City.
We will affirm the common ground of our shared values within the context of the palpable joy for which Romemu is well known. We will offer a series of three joyous, inspiring, educational holiday festivals on Chanukah, Purim, and Passover, each organized around a particular mitzvah – a necessary part of the pathway to lead compassionate, engaged, and joyful lives.
Seekers students who play instruments are invited to accompany Chazzan Basya and the Romemu community band during closing prayers in the main sanctuary on days where a Seekers Shabbaton occurs. Rehearsals will take place before Shabbat morning services.
