Strangers No More Monthly Discussion Series Session #5 – Navigating Difficult Times Together
Wednesday, January 22, 2020 - 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Tonight we will shift our discussion to recent acts of anti-semitism and hatred and how we navigate these difficult times together as a multi-faith community which is part of a wider Jewish community. What are the complexities of being a part of a Jewish community and/or family when we don’t identify as Jewish during these times, or are part of a interfaith family? Irrespective of how we “identify” religiously, how can our Strangers No More community stand together against acts of hatred and support one another? How can we support those of us who are people of color who are part of our community when they might feel especially vulnerable in Jewish communal settings?
Are you part of an interfaith couple or family? Grow up in one? Do you come from or identify with a tradition – or traditions – other than Judaism? Are you finding your way back to Judaism after many years? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, come and join this wonderfully diverse part of the Romemu community for our monthly discussion series – a safe, non-judgmental setting to explore together.
Newcomers welcome and expected. This is a series, and while we hope you will attend all of them throughout the year for continuity’s sake, it is not required.
Doors open at 6:45pm. Session 7-9PM. Please bring a vegetarian snack to share. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Location will be Upper West Side – exact details will be given upon RSVP.
