In the Realm of Repentance: Teshuvah and Transformation

Tuesday, September 10, 2019 - 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Locations given upon registration

Repentance (teshuvah) doesn’t happen in a day.  The power of teshuvah comes with practice. Our ancient rabbis understood this well; that is why they designated the entire Hebrew month of Elul, the month before Rosh Hashanah, to immerse oneself in this complex process that include various stages:  Recognition, Regret, Revelation, Repair, Resolution (or Do Not Repeat).

In this three week course we will immerse ourselves in personally exploring teshuvah through study of ancient and modern texts, group discussion, journal writing, practices of mindfulness and exploring how to approach those we’ve hurt for the sake of repair.  Each participant will be expected to practice outside of the confines of the classroom, devoting time and energy to this process in the weeks leading up to Rosh Hashanah.
