What’s Your Wake-Up Call?

Within the shofar’s T-e-k-i-Y-a-h is an embedded message:

“Awaken you sleepers from your sleep, and slumberers arise from your slumbering. Search your actions, and return in teshuva; remember where you come from…”(Maimonides Hilchot Teshuva 3:4)

Awaken. Open your eyes. What has changed?

What is your alarm clock? What wakes you to consciousness? What opens your eyes and your heart to make change, to see differently, to act better in the world? Is it an earth-shattering clamor that knocks you off balance? Or a pin drop of clarity that points you to a still small voice? What does it awaken you from? What does it awaken you to?
