Kiddushim At Romemu

Kiddushim at Romemu

Shabbat Kiddush is so important to our community. We gather after a morning of prayer, to renew relationships with our friends and family, make new acquaintances, and nurture our connection to the Romemu community.

You can support this sacred foundation of our community – whether it be on a special Shabbat celebrating a happy occasion or a regular Shabbat – by sponsoring the Kiddush. We have several levels of sponsorships from which you can choose. You can join together with a friend to co-sponsor at any level.

$$$- Create-Your-Own-Kiddush

If you feel like being creative with your Kiddush, this is an option that can offer you the chance to do that. You will be creating the Kiddush using a caterer of your choice but you will need to follow guidelines as set by the office.  The cost will probably be at least the cost of the deluxe Kiddush but you must arrange for food for the entire community along with your expected guests. In order for the set up and clean up to be done properly, you will need to be in touch with the Romemu office so that we can hire 2 people to set up and clean up. The cost of this staff as well as the paper goods is $250 above the cost of your food purchase. When considering your own Kiddush, please note that for a regular Kiddush, we order at least 40 pounds of salads (such as egg, tuna and pasta) along with bagels and green salads. You will need at least this much food to appropriately feed the entire community of about 100 that usually comes for services/kiddush. If you are expecting additional guests, you must calculate that in your food order. Please also make sure that you always order 2 challah for the motzie.

Simcha Raising

This is when we come together as a community to prepare a kiddush meal in honor of an simcha. Providing a delicious kiddush for a simcha is our equivalent of a village barn raising. We call it a “simcha raising”, when we all join an individual or family to create a community celebration. The family having the simcha must do the work to organize this so people participate. So whether they are a friend, family member or simply part of the Romemu community and do not yet know your family, they can participate in helping to raise simcha. Participating is easy. There are two documents that will tell you everything you and we need to know. First read our Guidelines and Recipes at http://tinyurl.com/qh5vgl8, then simply create a signup sheet. It takes a village! You will still need to hire staff to set up and clean up which, in addition to the paper goods provided by the synagogue, is at least $250, depending on the size of the kiddush.
