Romemu Brooklyn is pleased to host our second season of High Holy Days for 5780/2019

We’re returning to Berkeley Carroll School in Park Slope for Rosh Hashanah Day 1, Kol Nidre, and Yom Kippur

Hazzan Basya Shechter & Rabbi Jay Moses are co-leading High Holy Day services

Hazzan Basya Schechter was ordained January 2016 by ALEPH Cantorial School, and has been the recipient of numerous compositional and project grants from NY State Council of the Arts and the American Music Center.  She is also known for her group Pharaoh’s Daughter, a seven-pieceneo-hasidic world music ensemble that travels effortlessly through continents, key signatures, and languages with a genre-bending sound.

Rabbi Jay Henry Moses was ordained in 1997 by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and serves as Vice President of The Wexner Foundation, having served for many years as Director of the Wexner Heritage Program, North America’s premier Jewish leadership education program. Rabbi Moses studied Jewish mysticism in Jerusalem. He has participated in the Rabbinic Program of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality, an intensive study, meditation and retreat program. Rabbi Moses has had essays published in four books in the series on High Holiday prayers published by Jewish Lights Publications, as well as in many newspapers and magazines. He also contributed insights on the role of religion in the process of healing from tragedy for Sheryl Sandberg’s book Option B.
