Prepare for Purim with Sharon Dolin

Turning Ourselves Upside Down: Dress Rehearsal for Purim

According to some rabbis, Purim, may be the holiest day of the year, the obverse of Yom Kippur and the greater of the two. It is a time for overturning our conventional sense of self, giving gifts, and befriending the instability of life. In this supportive workshop, we read a portion of the Book of Esther before turning to contemporary poems that play with identity, acknowledge the role of chance in life and the hoiness of pleasure. No writing experience or knowledge of poetry is necessary. Bring a sense of play, notebook and pen.

Come join this holy caravan of seekers as we explore the paradox of how the Wilderness of our lives is also the Promised Land. Each month we will create sacred space to let our personal verse of Torah become both guide and invitation into the landscape of our soul. Through intimate sharing, deep listening, art-making, journaling, and meditation we will learn Torah together as it comes alive in our lives. This is a year-long course that meets once a month.
